(More customer reviews)This half-scale reproduction of "Dad's" famous "major award" isn't completely accurate (as has been noted here in another review) but for a mere 40 bucks, it's certainly close enough for most Christmas Story fans, including this one! The large-size version by NECA also suffers from the same (minor) inaccuracies, so their half-size version is certainly the better deal if you're hankering to own the classic leg lamp. Something to consider: It's smaller scale will fit nicely on the table between your home theatre recliners and will go well with any other home theatre decor. It certainly does with mine, never failing to draw smiling comments when a new guest first sees it. And your lamp will too. (And my home theatre room is full of other types of movie/tv memorbilia to distract the eye.) So stop vascilating and "award" this classic to yourself (or a loved one) for being a steadfast fan of one of the best holiday movies ever made. And remember: Be sure to ask the seller to mark the package "Fragile" so you too can become "Dad" for a nostalgic moment when it arrives at your door.

(More customer reviews)I had to have this the first time I saw it!! A friend sent me an email photo of the full size 40" LEG LAMP. The full size model was just too expensive. I couldn't justify spending that kind of money on something I'm only going to drag out once a year. The 20" model is great. I only payed 40 bucks for it at SUNCOAST VIDEO.
MAKES A EXCELLENT HOLIDAY GIFT FOR THAT HARD-TO-BUY-FOR FRIEND WHO LOVES THE MOVIE.
It's a realistic replica of the one Daren McGavin receives in CHRISTMAS STORY. The lamp shade is made with a nice fabric, it's the right color, and it has the cheesy fringe around the bottom. The leg is wrapped in a beautiful fishnet stocking and has a standard socket on top. It also lights up inside the leg. Which begs the question; how am I gonna get inside the leg to change THAT bulb once it burns out? The lamp doesn't come with instructions or a switch on the cord. There is a sticker on the socket with a WARNING: DUE TO THE RISK OF FIRE DO NOT TO USE ANYTHING LARGER THAN A 40 WATT BULB, so you won't catch the lamp shade on fire. Also the leg stands a tiny bit crooked, which is okay because it's supposed to look cheesy. Just don't tighten the shade all the way down and it will level out and hang nicely. Mine is displayed prominently in my living room window. Who needs a Christmas tree?...
