Amazon seems to have changed their description recently, but every other vendor selling this product still lists it this way (including the Memorex online store).
Unfortunately, these inserts DO NOT work in slim DVD cases! I thought that I just misunderstood how the "special die-cut" worked so I contacted Memorex Customer Service. I received the following response:
"Thank you for contacting Memorex Technical Support. Unfortunately, there are no directions to know how to put the label on your slim case. All you need to do is measure your slim case and then cut the label so it can fit your case. I apologize for the inconvenience."
So apparently Memorex's idea of "specially die-cut" is me pulling out a pair of scissors and cutting the insert down to size.
I do like the weight of the paper and the perforations are good. I just wish the product would have been described more honestly before I purchased.

(More customer reviews)These cases are described as being able to hold 4 to 12 discs, but I have found they hold 13 without any trouble. In addition, the disc well does not snuggle up to the opposite cover, so there is room for documentation, making the friction notches more than decorative. Ace Cases does make other size cases and I have ordered the 1 to 3 size. I have been looking for a good source of cases like these for a long time. Until now, the only source I have found, have been to purchase PC games. These cases are great!

These are DVD Ace "Library Case" boxes. This Ace Library Case is 30.0mm thick (or 1.18 inches), thicker than a standard DVD case that is 15.0mm thick (or .59 inches). The case has a full wrap around sleeve to hold the outer papers and holds 4-12 discs as well as a standard size booklet! These boxes are great for box sets of movie anthologies and training DVD videos! Ace Cases are unique because they hold the disc by the edge as opposed to the center like in normal DVD boxes. This method provides security to your DVDs because the discs can't be removed without fully opening the case, unlike hub style cases that the discs can be popped out of. (More customer reviews)Have to disagree with the reviewer above. I have a large VHS library that I am converting to DVD and these cases are by far the best value. I have never had a problem with the DVD's "popping off" the holder when I open the case. The cases are stong and sturdy, and the five different colors help me organize my collection. One thing the product description does not mention is that each case also has a clear plastic sleve on the outside so you can insert your own cover. If you choose not to, however, it's no problem because the cases are translucent enough to see through.
If, like me, you are converting lots of tapes to DVD, then I would recommend ordering these cases direct from Memorex in bulk. It's much cheaper than Amazon, and the shipping costs are the same no matter how many you order. Go to: http://www.ememorex.com/productdetails.aspx?pid=32021987

25 Empty Standard DOUBLE Blue Replacement Boxes / Cases for Blu-Ray Discs #DVBR12BRDO Review

(More customer reviews)I bought some cheap blu-rays that came in DVD cases, but I wanted them in real blu-ray cases. Expected really cheap cases, but that was OK considering how cheap these are in volume. Was pleasantly surprised to find that cases seem to be of decent quality. Some reviewers of other such replacement cases point out minor differences in manufacturing between different blu-ray case manufacturers, however I'm really not paying that much attention to these cases.
Cases have the raised blu-ray logo. Logo has the same finish as the rest of the case (not silver or another color). As shown in picture, cases feature a spot for a disk on both sides of the case (this seems to be standard for blu-ray cases that hold two discs). Cases also feature clips which hold an insert/booklet over the left hand disc. Discs seem to be held in place well, and I haven't had a problem with them falling out.
Would recommend as a cheap replacement.

(More customer reviews)Looking for replacement DVD cases for those that you opened in anticipation, only to find the disc frolicking in the case and the teeth from the hub rattling around inside? You know the hubs I am talking about--the five-pointed serpents-head design, where anywhere from one to all five teeth have broken off. The design of the hubs on these replacement cases--three semi-circular tongues--is one that I have never experienced a problem with. What a relief. Now if only the DVD manufacturers would quit sending us that defective crap!
By the way, the seller I used was Square Deal Recordings & Supplies. I cannot say, of course, that the replacement cases from this or any other seller will be what I have described. I spent considerable time on the Internet researching the problem of broken teeth on DVD hubs, looking specifically for a discussion of hub designs, but I found very little. Until sellers of replacement cases directly market them as being one of the better designs--I have seen three: two good, one bad, none ugly--we buyers cannot be sure of what we are getting. (Non-awareness of the problem may account for the mixed reviews of this product.)
To Sellers: Here is a marketing opportunity just waiting for you. Surely I cannot be the only one frustrated by this problem. Educate us on the various hub designs of these 7mm double-DVD slimline cases, and reassure us that we are not just throwing good money after bad on the same cases that have caused us so much grief.

These are super thin clear double DVD boxes! These boxes have a full wrap around sleeve (this is where you slide the paperwork in for easy viewing). They are 7mm thick, less than half the size of a standard DVD box! These are perfect for cutting down the storage space needed for your collection! The cases hold one disc on each side of the case, perfect for compact storage. These are the cases that are generally used for television series box sets! It was not my intention to buy something that shatters to small pieces at the slightest impact. Slight impact will break the disc holding clips as well as the center page mounting system. I've also had quite a few break when simply trying to open the cases. Use of a more resilient plastic would make these cases perfect but as they are, they pose a potential hazard to your discs.

My old quad cases stacked 2 discs on top of each other on each side, so you couldn't see all four discs at once. This item overlaps the discs, so you can in fact see the 4 discs all at once.
Also, Cyberguys shipped out the order right away, and it was delivered in perfect shape on time. I will order more from them soon.

(More customer reviews)i got the black Atlantic 3020 in the mail yesterday and had it put together in about 10 or 15 minutes. i can fit about 220 dvds on the thing, a huge improvement over having the wobbly stacks taking up a corner of floor in my room.
It looks attractive, with a smooth flat balck finish, and seems very sturdy (especially with the provided wall strap for anchoring). If you use this rack strictly for DVDs, and sit them in horizontal rows, you will only be able to fit 6 tiers (leaving two extra) on the rack.
I already have more DVDs than this unit can occupy so i have this idea. The unit seems more than sturdy enough to hold more tiers, and because of my limited floor space, building this thing up vertically would be necessary. I purchasing another Atlantic 3020, and incorporating the parts into the existing stand to make it about 6 or 7 feet high and hold about 10 or 11 tiers. I'm very confident after seeing the construction and utilizing the wall strap that i can pull this off.
All in all i think this is a great unit and would recommend it to anyone who needs a space-effictent media rack.
At the time of my purchase, the black model was 30 dollars more than the chrome model. I don't quite understand that, but the thing is well worth it either color you choose.

Verbatim 95094 DVD or Blu-ray Tall Video Storage Case, Black, 50-Pack Review

(More customer reviews)I bought 2 boxes of these Verbatim DVD Video Trimcases (50pk, Black) - so, 100 DVD thin (trim) cases back in 2009, and they were OK. The other reviewer found many of them broke recently - but all of mine were OK when I got them. I will say, the Verbatims were much better than some bulk no-name cases that looked the same, but came in bulk from some other online source that I had also used 2 years ago. The Verbatim's clear plastic was better than the bulk no-named ones. But, 3 years ago I had found some of these cases from Memorex, and the Memorex ones were the best at that time. I can not find black Memorex thin DVD cases now, and I hated the no-named bulk ones, so the Verbatims were pretty good.
HOWEVER, I just got another 50 of these in December 2009, and wow, they are MUCH better than the prior ones, and they are even better than the Memorex ones I had years ago.
The DVD button that holds the DVD is nice. The clear plastic is really thick and study. This gives a great first impression. I'm ordering another 50 right now as they are now the best I've seen.
The unfortunate aspect of these, is that so far, I've not found a good total price for them. Most of the online places want about as much for shipping and handling as they do for the cases, and I've not found a place that will provide free shipping if I spend enough with them. Amazon, if you are reading this, please cut a deal with one of the suppliers for these. In 2010, as far as I have found, there is no better for large quantities of black thin (trim) DVD cases.

Beware though--the outside of box is imprinted "CD cases" when in fact they are just as listed--clear DVD cases that are not the inferior hard black, but pliable yet rigid enough new plastic--great for either seeing the DVD or slipping in a cover in the full access outer sleeve. Hubs lock with medium tension too.

(More customer reviews)These are not good quality. They're flimsy plastic and they don't even snap shut properly, you have to push all 4 corners closed every time you open it. They're also about 1mm shorter than a standard Blu-Ray case, but the same width. The shade of blue is close, but noticeably different when standing right next to a real case. Take your money elsewhere, I know there's better quality cases than these!

It took me less than 30 seconds to put them both together! my movies fit inside really well. I was very impressed with them. The only thing I am not crazy about it that you have to be careful putting the lids on because of the way the boxes are folded, but what do you expect? They are GREAT for only five dollars! I just put in an order for 2 more of them!

(More customer reviews)Not too much to say except these are great cases, and when you slide in the jacket insert, you probably wouldn't know it wasn't the original case it came in. If you look really really closely the shade of blue is slightly different then original store casings and the blu ray logo is slightly bigger, but I didn't even notice until I really looked for discrepancies. I buy previously viewed blu rays at blockbuster sometimes, and they put their blus in DVD cases, which is annoying, so this was a perfect solution for me. Recommended.

(More customer reviews)The product is what you pay for. The cases are functionable. They are very bendable and break easily. When I recieved them, they came in a very nice box. When I unpacked the box and took the cases out there were several of them that were cracked and had pieces broken off. The plastic covering on the outside of the case to put your cover under, are thin and dent/rip easily. I can't complain for the price though. They are a good deal!
