High School Musical is an Emmy award winning made-for-television musical, produced and distributed by Disney Channel, and was released in 2006. It is about two high school students from rival cliques: Troy Bolton (Zac Efron), captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Anne Hudgens), a shy transfer student who excels in math and science. They try out for the lead parts in their high school musical, and divide the school.
