(More customer reviews)God, I wish I'd had this when I was a kid. When I was in seventh grade my grandfather and I built a wooden model of the Orca. It was the best we could do, but I was never totally happy with it. The details were sketchy, I built a lot of parts out of cardboard, and the hull was entirely the wrong shape. I wish my grandfather was still alive to see this model. The fine detailing on the wheel, the propellers, and the individual wood planks are lovely. The model is sturdy, though some of the smaller details can break if you're careless with them. The only real flaw is that there's no detailing on the interior of the cabin at all, a bit of a disappointment. I should also mention that there's less detail on the starboard side than the port side; the gaffs on the side of the cabin, which you can see in the picture on this page, are missing on the other side.
But it's a wonderful, beautiful model. I only wish I had Quint, Brody, and Hooper action figures to go with it!
