Utagawa Hiroshige, (1797 in Edo - October 12, 1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, and one of the last great artists in that tradition. He dominated landscape printmaking with his unique brand of intimate, almost small-scale works. Hiroshige¿s Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido and 100 Famous Views of Edo greatly influenced French Impressionists like Monet. Vincent Van Gogh also copied two of the Hundred Famous Views of Edo.
